#23 The End Or Is It?

I have really enjoyed the Learning 2.0 exercises, I would not have gone to half of the sites if it was not for this program and like most people I don't get the time to look until someone tells you about it. I am going to keep looking at the other 43 thing list at http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FWE/is_2_10/ai_n16133338 because it is a great chance to look at things we normally would not.
This said, I still do not understand the need to put your personal thoughts out there for everyone to read especially personal photos. I know most people like this form of personal advertisement, but I worry about who has access to it and what people can do with some of the information.
I sent my blog details to a few friends and asked them a series of question. The questions were what their thoughts on the blog were, the sites listed on my blog and would they do the same thing. The answer I got back from friends who are a similar age to me was that they did like to put personal information especially photos into the public arena. They all agreed that some of the links were great, but the amazing thing was that they all liked the same links ie: flicker, you tube,library thing and the generators.
Anyway it was a great opportunity and although a little frustrating at times, it was very productive especially when you look at some of the great blogs out there done by some very talented people.

I can see a real use for podcast, I know that sometimes when I go out walking, I love to listen to something other than music. I also find it great when going for long drives with the kids, they can listen to a book instead of music when they want a change. I can see a use for this in all libraries.

I can see a great use for ebooks, I like listening to them when I go for walks with the dog, just load them onto an Mp3 player and off you go. I don't think they could ever replace the library. Nothing is better than walking into a library and borrowing books to read. Anyway try the link it is a good site and you can find some good books at this site.

This is a great site to explore, I had a sticky beak at the real estate site, Zillow which gave me a look the house they used to film Happy Days, and then went on to give me the approx value of the properties around it. You could even look at the house used for Bewitched (the original) and other so called famous people or shows. Then when that got boring I decided to get back to it and I got side tracked again looking at different things. As it is getting late I have decided to go to http://www.librarything.com/it is a great site and I can see a great use for it in the library, book clubs or just anyone that loves books. Please also check out the link above it has something for everyone.

I did it, I opened my Zoho account and uploaded a craft sheet that kids love to do. Just paint their feet and place on either side of the sheet or change the words to hands and paint their hands. You can also paint their feet/hands with craft glue and sprinkle glitter and then laminate, makes a great page for calenders or gifts for friends and family. I can see other uses for this site, well worth checking out.

I can see some good uses for Wikis, but I do think that it does need some control or you really can't take some of it seriously. Anyway added an entry, and enjoyed looking around this site.

# 15 Web 2.0 Library 2.0

Having read the 5 perspectives for this exercise, it failed to change my personal thoughts on libraries and where they belong in out community. I do believe that there will always be a place for libraries and for those who want to use it, isn't that one of the reasons why we are doing this exercise.

Did a search on Learning 2.0 in Blog Post and got 7008 response, then did a Blog search and got only 749 Blogs. It is an interesting site to search and I even found 4 blogs about Wonthaggi, no posts, 13 videos and no photos. I did a search on cats, but got too tired to keep looking, another site to play with when I have more time.

Doing the RSS feeds and going through the other blogs could take forever. Another site to explore on a cold rainy day when you do not have a book to read or children to entertain, but still I completed the exercise and found a picture that would make all librians cringe, imagine a book drop like this in the morning.

# 10 Image Generators.

These online generators are great, you can have so much fun, pick on or try them all, I did. The generator blog is great, I love Harry Potter, being able to pick a character and play dress ups gave me a laugh and I like the ribbons, check out this site. Was not so keen on letterjames, but each to their own. I do like bighugelabs.com this site is fun and I like creating the breast cancer picture.

#11 Library Thing

Have played with Library Thing today. It is a great tool to keep record of the books that you have read and like or don't like, you could even list books that you want to read anyway check out my book list. This is a great site.

# My Space page

Have heard so much about My Space that we have just finished doing a My Space page for my friend Rosie. We thought that since I have a Blog that Rosie could have her own My Space page check it out at www.myspace.com/rosepudy and let us know what you think about it. We are just getting experience with all this new technology. Will use this when we get to week 9 # 20.

#7 Technology. How our everyday life has changed because of technology.

How different is life today with computer's and the technology that we have. Compare life today in 2007 and then look back to life in 1997 or even 1987. In my opinion nearly every part of our daily lives are different now than they were 10 or 20 years ago.

I am teaching a 78 year old lady how to use the internet, to look at her face when I am showing her site where she can check the weather, the current news or even old news from past years is amazing not only for her but for me to watch her reaction.

So much more has changed in my life span compared to hers in regard to technology. The best was when I got onto google earth and took her home to Ireland, she could not afford to travel because of finances and health but because of the computer and the internet she can whenever she wants.

My life started with my brothers, sister and myself being found in a hesian bag at the beach. Sadly my brothers did not survive, but my sisters and I were lucky to be found and then adopted. Life is getting better everyday, my extended family are getting used to my demands and because I am so cute I usually get what I want.
